Joan Meier is a Professor of Law and Director of the National Family Violence Law Center at George Washington University Law School. Joan has been a law professor at GW Law for 29 years, founding three pioneering and nationally recognized interdisciplinary domestic violence clinical programs. She has published widely on domestic violence, custody, and various Supreme Court decisions. Her major study of Child Custody Outcomes in Cases Involving Parental Alienation and Abuse Allegations (2019) is receiving widespread attention from media, professionals, litigants and lawmakers. Between 2003 and 2019 Joan founded and helped direct the Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project (DV LEAP).
