Michelle’s life’s work is to defend and protect victims of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault, and she provides cutting edge legal advocacy for all victims of crime.
As head of OVA, Attorney Cruz performed groundbreaking investigations, argued numerous motions on behalf of Connecticut crime victims, fought for legislation to enhance the rights of crime victims, including Jennifers’ Law in 2021 and worked on the creation of a State Missing Persons Unit. She has had record success in settling cases against state municipalities, including the largest police brutality settlement case in Springfield’s history.
