Doreen Dodgen-Magee is an award winning author, speaker, and psychologist. She’s also a survivor of domestic violence familicide. Doreen’s sister-in-law, Laura, and three nieces (ages 5, 3, and 5 months at the time) were murdered by Laura’s husband, their father, in 1995. Her mother-in-law was also injured by “shot” from the gun/bullets, and was severely traumatized. Doreen was her caregiver for the nine following years until her death in 2004. Doreen lives in Portland, Oregon, volunteers with Moms Demand Action, and is a Senior Fellow with the Everytown Survivor Network. She is a dedicated advocate for gun violence prevention with a specific focus on the many facets of domestic violence, trauma and survivor support, and prohibiting people with dangerous histories from obtaining guns.
