Melissa Kwon has served as the Associate Director for Prevention at UC Berkeley’s PATH to Care Center for over 5 years where she leads campuswide prevention efforts for domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and sexual harassment. She earned her PhD in Education with an emphasis in Cultural Perspectives and Comparative Education and her MA in Education with an emphasis in Research Methodology, both from UC Santa Barbara, and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with minors in Ethnic Studies and Education from UC Berkeley.
Melissa is passionate about, committed to, and has over 23 years of experience working in and collaborating with higher education institutions, community organizations, and state agencies around preventing domestic, intimate partner, and sexual violence as well as eliminating oppression. Melissa has worked to prevent domestic and sexual violence at the statewide level through strategic planning, program planning, and collaborative leadership at state agencies, including the Minnesota Office of Higher Education and Minnesota Department of Health. She has promoted gender equity, racial equity, and education equity through teaching, research, evaluation, and community work.
