Teresa Parker is a communications strategist with more than 25 years’ experience working at the intersection of media, domestic abuse advocacy and public awareness. She specialises in helping survivors, charities and journalists navigate the complex challenges of reporting violence against women and girls responsibly.
For over two decades Teresa led national media and communications work at Women’s Aid Federation of England, where she played a central role in shaping how domestic abuse is reported and understood in the UK. Her work included designing and delivering high-profile national campaigns, supporting survivors to tell their stories safely, and working directly with newsrooms to improve the accuracy and sensitivity of reporting on domestic abuse and coercive control.
Teresa has trained journalists across major UK and international media organisations and has extensive experience preparing survivors and advocates for national broadcast and press interviews. Her work has helped bring issues that were once hidden or misunderstood into mainstream public conversation.
Now through her consultancy, Teresa Parker Media, she advises organisations and campaigners on media strategy, survivor-centred communications and responsible storytelling around violence against women. Teresa brings a rare dual perspective to the conversation: an understanding of how newsrooms operate alongside decades of experience supporting survivors whose stories are being told.
