Sarah Feliciano

Researcher & Educator

Sarah E. Feliciano, M.A., is a researcher, educator, and administrator whose work focuses on coercive control and abusive group dynamics. She is the Director of Master’s Program Administration in the Department of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, where she also teaches undergraduate psychology. Feliciano additionally serves as an adjunct lecturer at Guttman Community College. Trained in Forensic Mental Health Counseling, Feliciano applies a trauma-informed, justice-orientated lens to her research on interpersonal abuses of power. Her work includes a study on confessions in intimate partner homicide, published in the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin in 2020, which contributes to ongoing conversations about investigative protocol, spontaneous admissions, and best practices for documenting and evaluating confessions. Feliciano has collaborated extensively with Dr. Chitra Raghavan on research examining coercive control in cultic, high-control, and psychologically-abusive groups. Their findings have been presented at leading conferences, including the American Society of Criminology and the American Psychological Association, advancing interdisciplinary understanding of the psychological tactics used to entrap and exploit individuals.
