David Martin is a Senior Deputy Prosecutor for the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (KCPAO) in Seattle, Washington. He serves as supervisor of the KCPAO Domestic Violence (DV) unit, co-manager of the King County Regional Domestic Violence Firearms Enforcement Unit, and a Fulbright Specialist in Gender-Based Violence. His 25-year career as a prosecutor has been in the DV Unit. David has created innovative responses to serve victims in criminal cases to sentence and treatment reform for offenders and diversion for those with histories of gender violence victimization.
David serves on numerous DV task forces and work groups, chairs the National Association of Prosecuting Attorney’s Domestic Violence Committee, and is a technical advisor to the National Firearm Technical Assistance Program. David is co-author of the Washington State DV Prosecution Manual, CBT Guide for Intimate Partner Violence, multiple public health articles with Dr. Amy Bonomi on DV as well as the upcoming book “Recantation and Domestic Violence: The Untold Story” to be published by Taylor Francis in winter 2023. David provides training and technical assistance on gender violence internationally. David received the KCPAO Outstanding Trial Advocacy award, Lifewire Maleng Award, Consejo Founder’s Award, and Coalition Ending Gender Based Violence System Change award.
