Dr. Yee Man Louie’s interest in technology and domestic violence led her to pursue a doctoral degree at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Her PhD research at the Digital Ethnography Research Centre there explored the emergent issue of Technology-Facilitated Domestic Abuse with a specific focus on the lived experiences of women victim-survivors from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Her study involved two phases of research – in-depth interviews with frontline professionals and in-depth interviews with Chinese immigrant women who have been victims of domestic abuse. The research aims to better understand the experiences of an under-researched group and to identify ways to improve responses to TFDA among culturally and linguistically diverse women in Melbourne.
