Roman James is a protective parent and family court activist in Los Angeles County. She works with domestic abuse organizations and government agencies within LA County to create awareness about post separation and coercive control mechanisms like economic and litigation abuse. In 2018, she organized five mothers to file a joint complaint against an abusive judge which ultimately resulted in the judge being transferred out of the family court division. Ultimately, she wants to see trauma-informed and harm reduction practices implemented within the family courts, child protection services and law enforcement that actually protect women and children survivors from abuse.
